i live in nashville, tn and love it. always have. it's a sweet "big" city, the perfect marriage of urban and rural. i've been here for 27 years and will always call it home, no matter where i am.
i'm a nurse by trade, night shift, in a medical intensive care unit in town. it's awfully demanding, though i'm thankful for the challenge and privilege of caring for people in such a way. that said, i'm often in desperate need of a creative, non-medical outlet, which is where the cooking/writing/photographing portion of my life comes into play.
i have two dear sisters, courtney and brys. they are like night and day, each beautiful and courageous and inspiring in her own way. i couldn't do life without them.
i have a dog named lila, the best ever, no competition. i'm unashamedly well past obsessed. she catches frisbees and soccer balls with her front paws, folks. she's amazing.
i'm a Christian and believe we have each been designed by and for a good and loving Creator. i have no solid ground but Christ, He who breathes life into me, who awakens my soul, who gives me a reason to press on. life as one loved by Him is my only sure identity. i pray this little space is always honoring to Him.
i have so many aspirations, big and small: to backpack through Europe, skip through the Alps singing "the hills are alive;" to climb a big mountain, to summit and stand tall on the top; to write a book, learn a classic song on the piano, to own a cafe, something simple, organic, seasonal; to have a family of my own, to raise children, teach them as I learn, and maybe grow a bit wiser as years pass. the list could go on for days. i love exploring and learning and experiencing the world in the millions of ways one can.
i started this little blog at the request of my older sister who said i had recipes worth sharing. i love everything about food, but above all i value the way it bonds us, that it's something to share around a table (or website). so, in short, that's what this blog is for. it's a place to share some of the tasty things i find with you. so, thank you so much for coming by. sit down and stay awhile.
